Long Days, Well Worth It

*The main subject of the post is......who would of guessed it Josiah, swimming, and autism. I do apologize for any thing that might not make any sense or grammar mistakes(not my thing), but we can just use the excuse that I am tired, yup, tired. *

TIRED

Okay, just a little on the being tired. Josiah sleeps anywhere from 5-9 hours, the latter being less common,  (supposed to get 12-14 hours and I know I could use about 10) a night with getting up 3 or more times a night. then nap time is always up in the air if it is going to happen or not, has been happening lately on a bus ride to swimming (which I promise I will get to-the bus and swimming...). We are waiting to hear from a sleep specialist to get an apt with them. If we do not get a call by next Monday, two weeks from when we got the referral through the pediatrician, then we will be calling the ped back to get things moving hopefully. *fingers crossed, praying, and hoping*

Bus, Swimming, Amazing

Last Thursday, Josiah started swimming with Michael, his swim instructor, again.

The Bus

Since it is at a latter time I take the bus both their and back. Last time it was earlier and hubby would drop me off on his way to work and I would just take the bus back, Josiah loves the bus so either way he is happy and I do not mind (we were taking the bus back and forth to the Kroc center for a while, too and that is a longer trip and latter at night). I was told through someone telling Josiah that I must really love him a lot to take the long bus ride just for a 10 min lesson. I have never even given it a thought of being that out of the ordinary. I just want Josiah to be happy, if it is possible to make him happy. We leave at about 3:55. Today it was more like 3:25 because Josiah was getting impatient and could not wait to go swimming. He kept saying Michael, please! and going to the door and saying "bus, bus". I told him he needed to wait, which turned into crying/tantrum/meltdown. After getting him to calm down a little I decided since last time we left at 3:55 we were late(the first time we were early), that we would just leave at 3:25 and that maybe he would just take a nap on the bus and I could actually study (test tomorrow). One fact about me, you might not know. I HATE being late for anything. Specially if it is something scheduled. I will get a pit in my stomach, horrible feeling, just for being late. Does not matter if the other person(s)/place has no problem with it, it still does not go over to well with me (was late TH, first day too because my sister brought us). Back to the bus. We have gotten there from about 4:40-5:23 when leaving at 3:55. Our swim time is 5:20. Today just like most days Josiah passed out on the bus ride there and was able to nap for a bit before it was time to swim.

Swimming/Amazing

Getting out by himself
If you do not know by now Josiah's favorite person in the world besides certain family members is Michael. There is no doubt in that one. He is the only person besides family that he requests when they are not with him. Most of the time he LOVES swimming. Today was not his best day, we will blame the tired/teething mess he was all night long for that one too. Josiah is really good at swimming, too. If you are familiar with my blog or FB page I am sure you already know this. In that way HE is amazing. His bond that he has with Michael is amazing as well. Even after a day like today when he cried the whole time and even a little after, what does he do when he gets calmed down and Michael is not busy with another little swimmer? Well, he gives him a high five, hug, and a kiss. That is just SO awesome. It took forever for us to get him to hug and kiss back and Michael has been the first non family member to share in Josiah's expression of love.
One happy swimmer
Oh, but that is not all. Swimming with Michael again just brings out so much more in Josiah. He loves to swim with him so much more then Mommy (who is normally harder on him then Daddy, when it comes to swimming) and/or Daddy. We just can not replace his buddy. I think Josiah has adopted him. Beyond his amazing swimming and bond what else could be so amazing about swimming? To start social interaction with other's besides M. All the other kids around. I have noticed at the Kroc center even if kids get interested in his swimming and follow us around he will laugh at certain things and kind of interact with them (normally results in splashing of some sort). The first time I seen this was with Lolo which was so awesome. The Kroc center it is way less the a 50/50 chance of this kind of interaction happening because most kids are busy doing their own thing and Josiah is swimming or hot tubing doing his own thing, but when he is at the pool with M everyone is there waiting their turn. Josiah has copied some parents with clapping and cheering for their children. One day he was copying moves M was teaching an older child to do while swimming. He follows some kids around. The other kids prompt him to interact with them which is great. Specially the older of the two boys who goes right after Josiah. He loves to say hi to Josiah and talk to him. These kinds of interactions happen before and after swimming, but there is still more. Just after his lessons he enjoys laying down calmly with his two towels under him and the other wrapped all around him other then his head. First, the calmly doing something is amazing in its self, but there is more too it then that.
Watching
He watches M teach the other kids. His eyes follow him around the pool. He is people watching and in a way interacting by doing so. For this reason he gets to lay there as long as he wants to. I am not going to rush him to get ready and stop interactions that could happen. How these little things are so AMAZINGLY significant is hard to explain. They are just new social interactions that most kids probably do on a daily bases and they just are not in the complete norm for Josiah. I am sure they have been working on this in ABA, but it is just so great to watch it is person. The little things that most people probably do not see as special or even notice. I notice and I celebrate the little victories and the big ones, too!

OH, OH and I get to take pictures. Which has been interesting to get right with the lighting.

Guest Blogging

Finally got done with my A term "killer course" and ended with an A in the class. Fulfilled my promise to guest blog on another blog.  I have in mind a blog post I want to do and have had it in my head since before I began the class 3weeks ago. Hopefully, even with a new class starting this Th, I will have time to put the post from my head into words on the computer. Until then go check out the guest post I did: here.

Welcome/Here is a Special Link

First, let me say thank you to anyone who came to visit our blog from the ISR testimonial (<if you have not seen it because you are a blog follower check it out). I try to update things as much as I can on here, but update more often on his FB page with weekly photo so and sometimes videos as well, so feel free to like the page and share in our adventure. If you are interested in a longer more detailed version of how ISR changed our lives read How This Started (how the blog started/first blog post) and Sometimes I Forget (about meltdowns/tantrums and swimming) both have more photos too. Best way to navigate around the blog are the links listed on the left hand side, but if you scroll to the end of a blog and there is another posted after it, it will go to the next blog (for instance since this is the latest blog right now it will go nowhere when you scroll down, but if you started on how this started you could scroll through them all).

Building Great Memories

If we are going somewhere with Josiah and it is not just an ordinary trip to the store or to ABA, you will probably see me with my camera. I take a TON of pictures and most of them never see the light of day. I delete what did not turn out the best and keep what was good or that I can not bare to delete just because it is blurry like from today:

Through these pictures I hope that Josiah will forever see how much he was loved, supported, and accepted.

One of the ways I choose to keep these photos is facebook both on my regular profile and on his page along with making picture books one of which I shared after making it here(sorry if you are mobile it will not show up). Well, when we had LM's party we set out the book for everyone to write something in it. I figured as cheesy as it seemed it would be something nice for him to either look back on and read, we could read it to him, or something just plain nice to read ourselves. Well, wow was not expecting some of the stuff. They are such great words of encouragement, love, and acceptance from everyone that wrote a little note! I really do have to share them to you all:

Love you so much and always nana and papa wheeler; you’re a great kid Elliot, D, and I are so lucky to get to know you and watch you grow-up. Keep being the happy great kid you are; you are such an amazing young man already. You have surprised us all by what you have achieved. Keep going you have a lot of people pulling for you-Laura; you have such an amazing mind, active curiosity and grand imagination. I look forward to the impact you will have on the world!-Uncle Jon; keep learning and growing, awesome swimming, happy 2nd B-day-nana and papa Jacobs; Thank you for being such a great student. You did a fantastic job learning to float. Your hard work each day made it fun to teach you how to rollback and float. I loved seeing you each day in the water and seeing how much you liked to work. I will never forget your awesome smile! I have your picture on my wall in my office and every time I look at it I smile, so I look at it a lot! Remember that anything you do in life that is good is worth working hard for. I can’t wait until I get to swim with you again and I hope that is very soon. You are going to love learning to float AND swim! Stay safe and see you at the pool, -Mr Michael.
Daddy and Josiah sledding

I will continue to build memories for us and for him by anyway I can! Through doing fun stuff and documenting it all with pictures even if they all do not turn out (like today I took 270 and ended up with 150 in the end after deleting).

I guess you can now add Pinterest to our list of ways to share us and our adventures. I added all of the edited pictures I have done on there which can be found here!

Hope everyone enjoys the pictures as much as I do and as much as I hope Josiah will in the future!

Sometimes I Forget

I hear about the self harm meltdowns of the children on the spectrum and I sometimes forget that was our daily life, too! I say was, because thankfully we found his outlet that helps him cope with the messy world around him. His swimming is his outlet. It gets him through his day.

I sometimes forget this because we go so long with out major meltdowns and self harm. We really forgot what life was like without swimming, so yesterday, we made the decision not to swim! We had plans to go after his party, but decided we were too tired and maybe he was warn out from the festivities. We didn't mention it to him. He was fine yesterday, but then this morning was meltdowns after meltdowns. Headbutting the floor at full force (shocked he does not have an egg on his head). So, even though I sometimes forget I am thankful everyday for finding his soothing outlet. I will try not to forget his 20 plus meltdowns a day for the autism parents who have not found an outlet. I will pray that they too find the outlet they need to reduce tantrums and increase sleep. I am so thankful to have found that ISR video on facebook (a baby in blue PJs gets out of the house and falls into a pool while his/her parents thing they are safe in the house). If it was not for that video and having income tax money available at the time we would have never taken ISR lessons. I would almost bet our first trip to the pool without lessons would have been a huge disappointment due to one big melt down and we might have not started swimming with him. I am thankful to his swim instructor who LOVED his job.

Josiah does not connect with people that much, but he did connect with him more then I could have ever imagined. Josiah LOVES that man! I mean he even dreams about him and ducks...I really do not think this would be possible if it was not for how much he loves his job. He is not just there to make money. He loves to see kids learn to swim. It saves lives and as I agree it is absolutely AMAZING how with just a little help it is instinct for a baby/child to learn to float or swim. So, although I sometimes forget our old way of life I am always thankful. I am thankful that we too can have a peace of mind that I am not completely worn and exhausted by the end of the day and of course hubby is super happy for that. It makes us both so happy, to see Josiah so happy.

Just maybe through our blog/page or just swimming at the kroc center we can help others in some sort of way find their little bit of happiness and peace of mind. I know we have become the talk of the pool by the life guards as the "Amazing floating baby!", so just maybe more people will  become familiar with ISR lessons too!

Turn Bad Luck Into Good

My family has had the worst luck lately. A car accident where some guy attacked my husband with his car, hitting it over three times(which we had to pay out 500 for). Then yesterday someone stole my phone from where I go swimming with Josiah(which will coast 100 to make a claim and get replaced). We were so very lucky that a very nice person paid for his pass for swimming for the summer otherwise I am not sure how we would be able to pay for it. We are waiting on medical money from hubbies flex account for a bill we already paid. We were also told by the insurance company that we had to buy the car seat then they would cut us a check for it. They said if they ever catch the guy who attacked my husband we would also get that 500 back. Until we get any of that back I am just thankful hubby has been working overtime because everything is just so tight right now. Well, hoping we can turn some of that luck around. I enter Josiah into two contests the first has started today and will last for two weeks:

Can you vote for Josiah swimming picture here are the links: Computer and Mobile.
If we win we get free pictures and money to use at a local children's clothing store. You can vote once every 24 hours.
The second is through ISR national and if we win that one we will get 75$ to spend on their online store, free registration for next year(worth 35$), and his picture will get used on their site. This one will start Monday and end Wednesday. A very short one. Will have to share link when it starts.

Today, we did go swimming and had a great time with Josiah, hubby, our roommates, and myself. Hubby did not want to bring the camera though. Maybe tomorrow we can get some pictures.

Wonderful Day Today!

He said rock today after leaving because he always has to visit the big rock before walking home.
After two semi rough days we had a really good day today. Tue we did not have the car seat, so we did a total of 1hour/2miles of walking and riding two buses. This was fine if it was not for the cat calls received on the way there (I had absolutely no clue a gym bag on one hip and a baby and another was so attractive). We spent about thirty minutes in the pool and then another thirty in the shower/getting ready to walk home. Wed swimming went great, we were in the pool for less then thirty min because it was a little cooler for some reason. When we first got out of the pool there were no family rooms open so we were waiting, one came open, but some teen boy(who was not in the waiting area before we got there and obviously is not a family) ran into it, as Josiah is standing there shivering. Luckily a few seconds latter someone else comes out, so we were able to get in that one. While in the family restroom getting ready there were multiple people who decided to pound on the door (as if the occupied sign was lying to them). This triggered Josiah not wanting to leave the shower non the less leave the bathroom. From his perspective with lady yelling at her kid and the pounding, there was nothing good outside that door. When I finally convinced him to get out of the shower, get dressed and leave he was already really worked up. Then on the way home he started to arch his back and throw himself. I had to put him down so he would not get hurt on multiple occasions and tried to see if he would walk, but he did not want to walk either. He did not want to stand or sit at the bus stop and was getting frightened of most of the cars passing by. By the time we got home. I took him inside, sat him in the chair closed the gate and hid in the bathroom for a few minutes just to breath and catch my breath. He was the whole time screaming at the gate. I returned to hold him and calm him down. Today was a much better day. We had the car seat so my dad dropped us off at the pool. the pool was still a little cool feeling, but not horrible. We started as we normally do with entering the pool at the steps, doing a float and picking him up. He then wanted to go in the little kids area and go down the slide and play with the bubble water. He wanted to go back into the deeper water so we did then back to the slide. Then off to the lazy river. Where he floated and even turned over to swim three times. This is really awesome since there is a current in the lazy river. The lifeguard on duty there was really impressed with his floating. He ended up flipping to swim eight times today. On our way out another guy said "Look it is the amazing floating baby!". Really wish I had a camera that was waterproof so I could share some pictures of his swimming. Maybe hubby can take some Sat or Sun or he can swim and I can shoot. I entered Josiah into a cutest kid contest that ISR is doing. Here is to hoping he wins. Voting starts Mon and goes through Wed. Off to bed now that I have given and update. It is almost 11:30 and have to be up at 8(much better then the 7 we have been up the past three days). Hubby will not be home until 1a. Here are some pictures from earlier this week, after swimming.

Swimming Saturday and Sunday

Saturday:

Went swimming today and although Josiah was still upset he was willing to go get daddy's hand and then mommy's hand. I want to be able to take him tomorrow as well before the week comes where he will only be with mommy and will have to either float or get the stairs or wall. We tried to get a video today; However, the batteries died on the camera. Maybe we will be able to get one tomorrow. Josiah was a little weird about other people being in his house when he got up, but had fun once we got breakfast and headed to the park. He took a short nap after the park. When he got up, he ate lunch and we headed off to swimming. We were at the pool for close to an hour. Then came home and took another nap. The morning started off rocky, but ended wonderfully. On a side note kids say the darnedest things. A couple of preteens that we watched had made the most interesting comments on a few things. First the boy was like WOW, your husband is like Diesel! I wish I had muscles like him. Then the girl and him were both talking about how we were the only skinny family at the park that day. She was like Josiah is skinny, you are skinny, my brother is skinny, I am skinny, and your husband is skinny.

Sunday:

Lets start with he said church and Tee-tee today! We started off the day with going to church. There were no teachers in LM's room which is fine since we do not always put him in the room. I guess a lot of people do not attend church during the summer. Which I knew was true from my Christian Ministry class I took last year, but really seeing it impact a BIG church like Resurrection Life is kind of sad. We are still going over the series "We Know The Future. This is an in-depth look at Bible prophecy and events happening in our world today" (from the website because I could not remember the name of the series. It so far has been really interesting. Hubby is thinking about doing Mudventure a 5k obstacle course type run in July, but
Mommy putting Josiah on the slide
is still looking for a team to go with. Also the day after that we are looking to go to the family car show at church in the afternoon. Next weekend, though we might get to play at a HUGE greenhouse. Will be our first time going to this one so hope Josiah likes it like the other ones we have gone to a few times. We went swimming again today and he was still a little upset, but seen some semi smiles. Daddy and Aunt T were our swim buddies today. One women said "WOW! It was really cool seeing him float like that there"! We will see if his successful happiness continues this week when I take him by myself. He even fell asleep on the way to check out animals at the pet store. Josiah loved looking at the all of the little critters. Like the chinchilla, hamsters, and rats. He was not as happy when he could not run off and ended up biting me in the hand, but other then that going to the store was wonderful and uneventful.
Just got done going down the slide

Swimming Take Two/Some Background

Fairy day 21months

 Plans for the day/weekend:

We are able to go swimming again today. We have to wait until five when open swim starts. Until June 9 is time for when he can swim will very a little bit because open swim varies. The pool doea have toddler swim times, but they run they entire time he is in therapy. Hopefully he does fine with the change in time for the time being. Tomorrow we watch a couple of older kids we have not watched in a few months so hoping he does great with that still as well. We also will be going swimming tomorrow as well.

*UPDATE*

How swimming went today:

We went swimming and it was not too bad. He was still gripping so tight and not wanting me to put him down. Though he enjoyed the little water slide. One mother was shocked when she seen him go down the slide. The slide is in about a foot of water and when he got down he plopped into float right away. We also did it in the middle of the pool while people cooed over it in amazement. He swam to the wall and got my hand a couple of times(I did not back up to far or he would have gone straight into float), oh and he went for the stairs, but decided that floating would be better. He felt the stairs with his hand when they were under him but he did not flip, so I encouraged him a little by flipping him into swim again using his shoulders. He sadly got cold really quickly and then was not having any of it. We ended with a nice warm shower, nursing and then got to play in the shower a little while mommy was getting dressed. I LOVE that they had family changing/shower rooms. Made it easier to get ready without having to worry about him running off while I was trying to get dressed. Oh and discovered that Josiah is terrified of automatic paper towel dispensers. He could care less about the toilets, but the paper towel dispenser scared him...

Some background:

Since I am sitting waiting at LM`s appointment and do not want to read my book (The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice), I will fill in some summarized background knowledge on us. I guess I will start at the beginning of not my life, but the start of our little family.

How Jason and I met:

Prom in 2007

I met Jason, my  husband when I was almost 17. I met him through his brother and sister-in-law before they were married (I met both of them at a weekend long Christian event for teens, that we were all volunteering at). I had shortly before I met him made a promise between God and myself not to date for an entire year since I had just got out of an abusive relationship (I honestly think that is the first time I have used that term to describe it before, I have called it a bad relationship,  but not abuse like it truly was), that lasted five years. We would chat online for hours everyday with a couple of other friends or just the two of us. The first time we met was at 131 raceway, watching drag races. We started dating February 18th. I was the first girl Jason had dated and I really wished I could erase my past, but I learned I couldn't and that my past is what helped to mold me into who I am today. God even used the threat on my life from my ex, because of the threat I went the weekend event even when I wasn't feeling well and I have already explained the rest.

Started dating/engagement:

One of our first dates together was my Junior prom, so we have the pictures from the event, to help us remember the moment, forever.  Fast forward eighteen months into the relationship we got engaged,  just before I started freshman year of collage. It was August eighteenth, at a park during a picnic lunch, with subs and cherries.  I can till remember it like it was yesterday.  We got engaged even though we knew it wouldn't be until sometime after I turned twenty-one for our wedding date because of another promise I made to myself and God before we met. During our engagement we went through some really tough times but even through it all we were still together.

The wedding:

June 18, 2010 was the date we planned to get married in a park by our  pastor, with close friends and family.  Two days before the park flooded so the location was switched to our church.  With help from some church members we set up the wedding in the new location.  We had a beautiful wedding with pictures and video. For our honeymoon we went to  Grand Haven for a fountain light show and time at the beach. Then farther north for more beach and walking.

Loss and pregnancy:

Sometime in July we made the decision to expand our family.  After the loss of a pregnancy,  we were pregnant again the due date was set for August. The pregnancy was uneventful other then a bad case of the flu around thirteen weeks in. June seven came around and I had three hours of contractions. Almost two weeks ago Josiah(then known as little monkey)  had dropped completely into position,  so much so that we couldn't get an accurate ultrasound measurement or picture of his head. The OB made the decision not to check for dilation and said see you in two weeks (needless to say he was born three days before the appointment).
33weeks along

Here comes Josiah:

Waiting to see how far dilated I was at the hospital
July 8 I started contractions before the kids I was babysitting at the time got picked up, I thought he was just putting pressure on me because it felt fine when swaying.  We went food shopping.  We got done and went to get my mom from a store. I couldn't stand still because of the pressure.  I talked with my mom how I never said I wanted him to come and even told him he was not allowed to come until thirty-seven weeks or later since thirty-six and earlier is considered premature birth. Then I joked that if he kept up whatever he was doing that I wouldn't know how I could make it to forty weeks. Well, by midnight that night I came to the conclusion that it just might be labor I was in. We waited and timed and watched. Decided around 1 in the morning to go in to the hospital.  I was all smiles because the pressure had stopped when I got busy packing.  We almost stayed home because it stopped.  When we got there they took their time, I mean I didn't look to be in labor so they thought it was false labor and told me so. They hooked me up and discovered I was having contractions and again stated I was probably in early labor due to the grin still on my face. Well when they decided to check me I was seven cm. Then took samples of blood and urine to check for possible reasons for early labor (nothing was ever found). I was checked again and was eight and a half cm. I was checked into a room, Jason got the bags and my birth team started to show up. My water was broke at 7 since labor had slowed, but I was too far to be sent home. Things progressed rather quickly from there. With only three pushes my beautiful, small baby boy was born, by a natural, medication free birth. He was 5lbs 12oz and 18.5in long. He got a 9-10 apgar  score and had no need for the nicu. The birth was perfect up until the OB pulled on the placenta causing my bag of waters not to come out like God designed. Then he made the decision to scrape me out(like a D and C, but I was FULLY awake and no pain relief) while everyone cooed over LM, so no focal point or other natural help. The affects of that act on our sex life lasted nearly TWO years. After some issues we figured out breast feeding (He was to be the only one to latch and if I helped he would unlatch and do it himself all by himself). Three days after birth we went home.

The first year:

Ultra sound at 1 month old
Build a bear firefighter costume-almost 3months

Everything went rather smoothly the first month, but then I started to notice the amount of throw up he had and the force at which he threw up was unusual. We went into the pediatrician and she sent us to an  urgent ultra sound to see if he had pyloric stenosis (a stomach condition some babies get, that requires immediate surgery), we were thanking God for sure when we found out it was not that. We ended up going on a dairy free diet which helped a ton. By six months I got off of the dairy free diet. A little before this time Josiah began eating every half hour and was really lethargic(not moving that much when awake). After several visits to the pediatrician and a lactation consultant and then finally seeing our pediatrician we were sent to an ear, nose and throat pediatrician to check for tongue tie. It turned out that he had one and a lip tie as well. They were both cut in office at six months. His eating changed a little and he became less lethargic. He still had some eating issues and by seven months we started to see a oral therapist. By nine months they discovered he was extremely anemic and he was put on a high dose of iron for a little while which he is still on iron in a multi-vitamin plus iron to this day. Nine months is also when we discovered that he was having bad acid reflux as well and thought it was strange he did not protest about it other then in eating small frequent meals. He was started on prevacid after trying two other medicines that did not work(he still takes this to this day as well). after fixing both of these problems Josiah started to crawl. At eleven months Josiah had his hypospadias surgery and began his life of climbing on everything. Something we knew was coming since he was born. Hypospadias is a defect to the penis. It causes it to be crooked sometimes, the hole to be in the wrong place, and a hooded foreskin that can be fixed(found this out after surgery) in most cases if the parents wish to(in our case the urologist said it was not fixable, so he did not even give us that option).

The second year:

Showing off  his cloth-12m
Sitting in a wood shoe-14m

Halloween(zookeeper giraffe)-15moths
In the beginning of the second year I joked with Josiah that he was not allowed to have anything wrong for the next year since we had gone through so many different things in the first year. This hopeful thinking of course would not be the case, but we love him so much either way. By thirteen months I was really starting to be concerned about little things, but could not put my finger on what could be the cause. When he was fifteen months and still not walking or talking/babbling I got a hold of an early on program. By the time they came out he started to walk at sixteen almost seventeen months and they came to see us at eighteen months. We started speech once a week. We talked to them about autism and they said they do not do anything about looking into it until a child is in preschool. I was not happy with this answer, since I know how much a child learns in the first three years of life and that it is better to catch things early (working on a bachelors of early childhood education and I am so close to being done!). When we went to the eighteen month appointment I brought up autism which the pediatrician was prepared for as the m chat gets filled out at that appointment. She too was very concerned about autism and recommended us to BRAINS which did not take our insurance. I discovered hope network and brought it up with her, she was actually going to recommend us to them that day too. At twenty one months we started swimming, five days a week for ten minutes, which was really awesome because it just about stopped all of his tantrums and climbing. We also went to the evaluation at hope network then as well. We were asked a ton of questions left the room for five minutes and then came back to a rearranged room. Josiah just about fully shut down because of this. after prompting  different behaviors that they were unable to get we left the room again for five minutes. The next time they took just him back and he cried for nearly an hour. He was diagnosed with PDD-NOS (pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified), which is on the autism spectrum. PDD-NOS is not less or more sever then regular autism. He was given this diagnoses because he does not have repetitive behaviors. Two weeks later after insurance approval he started therapy there at five days a week for two hours. He is now 22 months and done with swimming lessons, but still has speech and ABA therapy.
